Hannah Sternberg

Hannah Sternberg is an accomplished educator and percussionist dedicated to fostering musical excellence and making diverse percussive traditions accessible to students of all levels. She has served as the Percussion Caption Head for Platt High School since 2022, where she directs and teaches the Front Ensemble and Drumline during the fall marching band season, alongside directing the winter percussion ensemble.

Hannah brings an elite level of marching arts experience to the field. She toured the country as a performing member of The Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps, the 7th Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps, and the Connecticut Hurricanes Drum & Bugle Corps, spanning a seven year marching career.

She holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Percussion Performance from the University of Hartford’s Hartt School, graduating Summa Cum Laude. During her time at Hartt, she was inducted into the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society and received the prestigious Senior Regents Award. Her collegiate training includes intensive world percussion studies with leading global masters, covering Middle Eastern, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, and West African drumming styles—the latter of which included immersive field research trips to the Volta and Ashanti regions of Ghana.

In addition to her work in the marching arts, Hannah is the Elementary Music Teacher at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School in Meriden, CT, and teaches private piano and voice lessons at the Middlesex Music Academy. As an educator, she is passionate about building strong technical foundations, cultivating a collaborative team culture, and helping every student find their unique voice through performance.
