Bryan Carrera

Bryan Carrera has been a member of the O.H. Platt Staff since 2023, primarily working with the low brass section. He is a music educator and tuba/sousaphone player from New Haven, Connecticut. As the music Director of John C Daniels School for International Communications, he teaches elementary music and multiple middle school bands. His focus on fostering a productive and welcoming community has helped him double the size of his program.


Bryan works in partnership with the Yale School of Music, providing lessons and performance opportunities for students from grades 5-12. He has coached and worked with multiple ensembles such as brass quintets, brass chamber ensemble, brass band, salsa band, jazz big band, symphonic band, and wind ensemble. His passion for performance opportunities for his students has helped expose his works not only with the Yale program but with his own bands at John C. Daniels, connecting the arts with the community in New Haven.

Additionally, Bryan is also the founder of the award winning East Rock Brass Band, performing across the east coast for events such as parades, festivals, parties, and other community events. Bryan studied at the University of Connecticut where he earned a B.S. in Music Education, a B.A. in Music, and an M.A. in Curriculum & Instruction with a focus in Music Education.
